Roberto Soto is a comedic writer, illustrator, and event producer based in Brooklyn, NY.

Roberto balances sincerity and candidness in his keen observations through theatre, short story, music, and illustration, including “Tales from the Periphery,” a collection of illustrations that’s like “a children’s book for big gay adults.” His monthly show, FAq: A Funny Ass Party, is a comedy showcase and party that platforms Black, Brown, and queer comedians and DJs in Brooklyn.

Roberto creates inclusive experiences and spaces for the chronically curious — informing and fascinating his community every step of the way.

What does he even do?

Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Roberto Soto moved to Austin, TX to study Playwriting and Directing at the University of Texas at Austin (highest honors, btw), where he also served as a Digital Design Editor for music magazine, Afterglow, and Editor-In-Chief for Study Breaks Magazine. Roberto was a pioneer in the vintage clothing movement in South Central Texas and continues to turn his nose up at fast fashion consumerism. While working in development and marketing for several performing arts nonprofit organizations across Texas, Roberto discovered his aspirations for expanding accessibility to education and community engagement efforts.

By 2024, Roberto fled the hustle and bustle of these small Texas cities, opting instead for the tranquil stability of New York City. Thank goodness for the warm and welcoming communities that occupy Brooklyn, where he performs stand-up comedy, DJs, produces events, and reads in the park. Roberto is still discerning when his humor translates to the masses.

Time will tell.
